A Unique Approach ....
We integrate various psychology theories and universal wisdom traditions in our work with clients, including:
Jungian psychology
Relational systems
Integral theory
Mindfulness practice
Spiritual & religious traditions
The arts, literature, and philosophy
Existential psychology
Developmental theory and recent discoveries in neuroscience
It is essential to recognize that each person is unique; therefore, we approach our work with an open and humble mindset. We understand that healing is not a one-size-fits-all process. By working with compassion and patience, we can find the best path forward for each individual.
At Olive Branch Therapy, in addition to in-person therapy, we offer telehealth counseling sessions that allow you to meet with a licensed therapist from the comfort of your home. Our platform is HIPAA-compliant, ensuring that your sessions are private and confidential.
I am an IDPH-approved supervisor, supervising therapists in training and those working toward licensure in Iowa. As a supervisor, I prioritize being attentive and present.
My approach is rooted in cultural humility, critical awareness, and my own therapy experiences. Helping clinicians cultivate self-awareness and clinical skills is my passion, so I carefully choose the number of individuals I supervise to ensure I can invest sufficient time and effort into each one's growth and development. My ultimate goal is to equip my supervisees with the necessary skills to excel in the therapeutic environment.
Parenting Workshops I offer parenting workshops designed to help you understand the underlying reasons for your child's behavior. By gaining deeper insight into your child's developmental needs and emotional world, you can respond in ways that diffuse challenging situations while promoting learning and growth. These workshops equip you with practical knowledge and strategies to handle parenting challenges with greater confidence, ultimately strengthening your relationship with your child and creating a more harmonious home environment.
Child Protection and Juvenile Court Training I provide specialized lectures and workshops for professionals working with families involved in child protection proceedings and juvenile court systems. These comprehensive sessions cover evidence-based practices for engaging with families and their relational systems, exploring critical topics including trauma's impact on family dynamics, the effects of family separation, and the unique therapeutic needs of these vulnerable populations. Participants gain thorough understanding of family rights, court processes, and effective intervention strategies.
Research and Conference Presentations I present professional research at conferences, drawing from my qualitative dissertation research that examined how mothers' experiences within child protection and court systems impact their families' support networks and emotional well-being. This research-based perspective informs my clinical practice and contributes to the broader understanding of family resilience in challenging circumstances.
